InCoWriMo is a short for International Correspondence Writing Month. It is a 28-day letter writing challenge for the month of February. Why this month? Because it has the fewest number of days.
It’s a great way to find new friends and dust off your writing skills! The rules say that if you join in the middle of the month, you should catch up but personally, I think it is healthier to start where you are and not get overwhelmed by the number of missed letters. Of course, if you feel like it, go ahead and write as many letters as you can to complete the challenge!
The letters must be written by hand, no technology whatsoever! What you post doesn’t have to be a letter necessary; it can be a postcard, a note, a photograph with description, a card… anything with your words on.
You can write 28 letters to the same person if that is something you want to do! Challenge your friend 🙂
I have created this #incowrimo layout in my bullet journal (dotted Leuchtturm1917) where I keep a record of whom I posted a letter to, postal cost, country it was mailed to, and to tick off when I posted & received the letter back.
How can I find someone to write to?
There are many penpal/snailmail groups on Facebook, penpalworld.com is a great website where you can share some of your details and connect with like-minded people, when you type #incowrimo, #penpalwanted etc. on Instagram, there are going to be plenty of people who would like to exchange letters with you! Nothing can hold you back and if you like posting and receiving mail, go for it! You never know what happens and if you haven’t already, you might even find the love of your life!
