Faber-Castell and Stabilo pens

New pens arrived and I am super excited to share my first experience with you!

Faber-Castell 4 PITT artist pens in black colour:

You get 4 pens in four different sizes – Superfine 0.3mm, Fine 0.5mm, Medium 0.7mm and Brush 1-5mm. They are permanent, waterproof, odourless, acid-free, and pH-neutral.

As I opened the pack, my first expression was ‘wow’ – I love the way they feel in my hand, they are light-weight, short and not too thick to hold comfortably. Writing is a bit tricky as I am left-handed and they don’t dry as fast as I hoped so they do smear. If you are like me and like to colour in your doodles, when using these pens it is necessary to wait at least 20 seconds before you go ahead with colouring – the bigger the project, the longer I’d wait. Drawing lines with a ruler is smooth – sometimes as you move the ruler it will smudge the ink as it gets stuck on the edge of the ruler, but you don’t have to worry about that with these pens. The ink doesn’t skip while writing, it doesn’t bleed through the paper, and the colour is truly black.

I got these for drawing borders and headlines in my bullet journal so they serve me fine. They are not the best for left-handed people; you need to be careful if you want to do some actual writing.

Stabilo 8820 – 03 Point 88 ColorParade:

These are just beautiful 0.4mm fineliners! They are very thin, long, and weigh nothing. The lids were a little stiff when I was first trying to pull them off but they come out easily after one or two uses.

Writing is a great experience; the colours are very cheerful and bright. Doodling with these was a joy, they do dry faster than Faber-Castell pens BUT they bleed through the paper in my Leuchtturm. You need to consider for yourself if this would be an issue.

I love the holder that comes as a packaging for these pens – it opens up in the middle so you can put it on standing and simply pick up your pen without chasing it all over the desk.

All in all, I am happy with my purchase and can’t wait to start using them every day!
